: FEI
Model
: Quanta 250 FEG
Specification
:

Accelerating voltage 200V-30kV
Operating Voltage 5-30kV operating voltage
Magnification: 30X- 300kX
Resolution:
@30kV@High vacuum conditions: 1.2 nm
@30kV@Low vacuum conditions: 3.0 nm

  Working Principles

The FEI Quanta 250 FEG-SEM is equipped with schottky field emission gun and Everhart-thornley detector for (secondary electrons) to deliver ultrahigh resolution (1.2nm @ 30kV), backscattered electron detector in high vacuum mode and large field secondary electron detector for low vacuum operation (3.0nm @ 30kV) imaging.

The Quanta 250 successfully integrates with EDAX detectors that make it ideal for: nanotechnology, material science, and biology, compositional and micro-structural imaging and analysis.

  Applications
     Nanotechnology, material science, biology, compositional and micro-structural imaging and analysis

  User Instructions

  1. A Requisition letter addressing In-charge Technical cell along with

    • Demand Draft in favour of S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences.
    • Cash payment after completion of the expt.
    • Payment through Debit/Credit Card
    • Through wire/online fund transfer before the experiment ( see wire transfer details below)
  1. If you are not supposed to be present at the time of appointment please mention as much details as possible like
          a. Expected features you are looking for. (If available send a representative picture also)
          b. Up to what magnification images you want.
          c. About nature of your sample like whether it is conducting OR non conducting.
          d. If it needs to be dispersed in any solvent (for powdered sample).
          (If required attach a separate sheet.)
  1.  Once your Requisition letter along with DD will be received in Technical Cell then only you can be given an idea of tentative date of appointment.
  1. The users will be informed about their date & time of slot by e-mail or phone call (Please provide email and contact details while booking for slot)
  1. The samples should be dry and should withstand high vacuum (~ 10 -4Pa). Wet biological sample can’t be done in FEG-SEM
  2. The sample size should be less than 12.5 mm x 12.5 mm x 10 mm (height) and the side opposite the side of interest, should be flat (to enable sample mounting). The smaller the sample height the better for analysis.
  3. The user is welcome to be present in the laboratory during analysis.
