Vibrating Sample Magnetometer

  Instrument Details

Make: Lakeshore
Model Specification: Lakeshore 7407

System Software: Lakeshore Cryotronics Inc.

  Working Principles

It is based on the principle of Faradays law of electromagnetic induction. When a sample vibrating at a certain frequency is placed between two electromagnets an e.m.f is induced according to the amount of magnetization the sample undergoes due to the change in orientation of the magnetic domains (molecular magnets) which produces a net magnetic moment in the sample under study. This induced e.m.f is simulated through data acquisition system software which helps in the complete characterization of their magnetic properties.
