An outreach program "Conference On Research trends in Multifunctional and Hybrid Nanomaterials
(CRMN 2018)" on 21st June, 2018 was organized by S.N.Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata in collaboration Kazi Nazrul University, Asansol, WB to mark the celebration of 125 th Birth Anniversary of Prof. Satyendra Nath Bose .
Multifunctionality of Hybrid Nanomaterials is a matter of intense discussion and enormous imagination, nowadays. Coexistence of diversified
physical properties in Nanomaterials would help miniaturization of devices and enhance functionality. Functional materials exploit
desired coupling among multiple variables to yield several functionalities, viz. integrated structural, electromagnetic, thermal,sensing and
actuation, energy harvesting/storage, selfhealing capability, biodegradability etc. Recently, investigations of Material Properties, Device
Performance and New Application Concepts have become a subject of great research interest and close scrutiny. Production of multi-purpose
devices, performing different and complementary operations, is one of the aspirations of diversified industries, such as, electronics technology,
energy generation and storage, healthcare, automotive engineering, environmental monitoring, web-based information technology
etc. Interdisciplinary research from both engineering and science disciplines have been recognized in forwarding and accelerating such
scientific breakthrough.

IIT Mandi conducted one day outreach activity on May 12, 2018 for the school and
college students on the occasion of 125th birth anniversary of eminent physicist
Satyendra Nath Bose. Activity was aimed to motivate the young students of the
Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh.
Dr. Manoranjan Kumar and Dr. Thirupathaiah Setti. Dr. Manoranjan Kumar discussed about the 125th birth celebration of Prof S N Bose, and the SNBNCBS, which was followed by a documentary movie on the life of Prof S N Bose. The last talk of the activity was delivered by Prof Arghya Taraphder, who gave a simple introduction to Bose-Einstein Condensation
The activity was attended by 80 school children from the Government Senior Secondary School at Mandi and the 6 teachers of the school. There were approximate 40 participants from IIT Mandi including student and faculties. The activity was well appreciated by the participated

The Pro V.C., VBU, Dr. Kunul Kandir, and the Registrar, VBU, Dr. Bansidhar Prasad Rukhiyar were present in this session. It was then followed by a short film on the life and work of Prof. S.N. Bose and then scientific talks by Dr. Rajib Mitra, Associate Professor, SNBNCBS, Dr. D. Ganguly, VBU and Dr. N. Kumar, VBU. The conference was concluded by a short address by the V.C., VBU, Prof.(Dr.) Ramesh Sharan.

Dr. Ramkrishna Das,Assistant Professor, Department of Astrophysics and Cosmology from S.N. Bose Centre, delivered popular level lecture on Life and Works of Acharya Satyendranath Bose in a one-day seminar at Siuri Vidyasagar College on 17th March 2018.
This seminar was organised in association with Bangiya Bigan Parisad as a part of organizing 100 lecture series in different schools and colleges across the state to commemorate the 125th Birth Anniversary of Prof. Satyendra Nath Bose.
About 135 students and 25 faculty member attended the seminar attended the seminar.Prof. Pijus kanti Ghosh ,Physics dept. Visva Bharati university also delivered lecture in the seminar. The Seminar concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Dr. Nirmal Kr. Datta, Suri College,the Coordinator of the Seminar

Recent Advancements in Astrophysics and Space Science

Prof. Sandip K. Chakrabarti, department of Astrophysics and Cosmology from S.N. Bose Centre, has organized a Conference on Recent Advancements in Astrophysics and Space Science, at Sidho Kanho Birsha University, Purulia, West Bengal 723104, on 5th March 2018. About 150 students and teachers participated the conference. The honorable Vice Chancellor and the Registrar were present at the inaugural session. All the talks were well attended. Quite some time was spent for Q&A sessions after each talk. All the students were also given a Certificate signed by S.K. Chakrabarti (SNBNCBS) and S. Mondal (SKBU).
